How long do I have to finish my sentence?

All Teen Court defendants have three months to finish their sentences. This time begins on the day of the Teen Court hearing. In addition to the three months for the sentence, the Municipal Court will monitor all deferred sentences for three additional months, bringing the total time for deferred sentence to six months.

If you are having trouble completing your sentence for whatever reason, please review the information available to you in this site. If you still have problems or questions, feel free to contact the Teen Court offices. If your offense is covered by the program, it is your first offense, you are 18 years of age or younger, and your case number begins with the prefix "JC" you are eligible for Teen Court, but the final decision is made through the City Attorney's Office. Oftentimes Teen Court is recommended by a school administrator or the arresting officer. All Teen Court defendants must plead guilty to their offense in order to be eligible for the program. You can ask the court about the program during your court date. If the judge decides that it would be an appropriate  option for your specific case, then the case will be transferred to us.
